RonaDee Thornock, LMSW

RonaDee (Rona) is a native of southeast Idaho who has always had a passion for helping others. Rona has over twelve years' experience working with adults and children in the mental health field. Rona’s clinical experience includes helping individuals struggling with severe mental illness, childhood trauma, PTSD, depression, anxiety, mood disorders, personality disorders, domestic violence/sexual assault, sexual orientation, and substance abuse/addiction. Rona also has helped individuals cope with life transitions such as marriage, divorce, blended families, grief, loss, community integration, and identity struggles. Rona specializes in providing parental support therapy to parents and caregivers of high needs children. This includes helping parents who are struggling with their child’s initial diagnosis or finding it difficult to meet their own needs while devoting so much of their time to others. As a parent to a special needs child herself, Rona understands the need for support to provide the best care possible.

Rona does not believe in a one-size-fits-all method of therapy. Rona often practices person-centered therapy, integrative therapy, cognitive therapy, and behavioral therapy; however, she understands that each person is unique and deserves a thoughtful and individualized approach to their treatment. Rona works hard to remove the shame and stigma often associated with mental health issues and empower those around her. Rona believes everyone needs a safe space to be themselves and once a person feels heard, the journey to healing begins.

Outside of the office Rona loves family time, enjoying the outdoors, traveling (anywhere sunny and warm), listening to music, and beautifying her surroundings through art, decorating, and design.
